Best Western, founded in 1946, is the world's largest hotel chain with more than 4,200 hotels. Premier is the flagship brand of Best Western, answering to the accommodation needs of customers who value the extra luxury. At the privately owned Best Western Premiere hotels, the quality standards of the facilities and services are set higher than in other Best Western hotels. To be granted the Premier status, the hotel must offer its customers a special experience relating to the history or the location of the hotel. Best Western Premier Hotel Katajanokka is the first Premier class hotel in Finland.

Best Western around the world

Best Western was born in the United States in 1946. The business idea of Best Western was that the member motels had to be the best accommodators in their area. Each motel added to the chain had to have fitted carpets, tiled bathrooms, the best possible mattresses, good pillows, covers and bedsheets and furniture matching the general style of the motel. These common standards enabled the motels to recommend each other to travellers needing tips for good accommodation.

Already in 1963, Best Western Motels was the largest accommodation chain in North America with its 699 members. The condition of the building and the reputation of the owner and manager of the hotel were crucial when selecting new members for the chain. Word of the flexible operating principle reached new areas. In 1966, Best Western expanded into Europe, the Caribbean and the Pacific area. The era of the modest motel chain was over, and Best Western Motels shortened its name to Best Western.

Largest accommodation chain

Along the years, Best Western has grown into the world's largest hotel chain, and it still represents the elite of private hotel business. Each owner of a Best Western hotel wants to do his or her best to ensure that you are comfortable. Our hotels normally have three or four stars; this means a smooth and relaxed service also for those paying for their own accommodation.
